Botox is a muscle relaxing injection used to correct wrinkles, contours & excessive Sweating and used both in men and women,

Botox, by relaxing the overactive muscles, corrects dynamic wrinkles in face, gummy smile, sagging mouth corners, bulky muscles such as in prominent jaw and enhances the lips(Lip Flip) and reduce lines around mouth.

Botox effectively reduces the dynamic wrinkles/expression lines, which are caused by overactive facial muscles such as wrinkles that appear when smiling, frowning, with eyebrow movements, etc..

Types of lines and wrinkles that respond to botox, a muscle relaxant, are the "dynamic" ones, which appear when the underlying muscles contract during facial expressions. Examples (fig 2) include the horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, vertical worry lines between the eyebrows, lines at the sides of the eyes like "crow's feet" that radiate from the sides of the eyes, lines around the lips, lines on nose (bunny lines).

Botox, by relaxing the overactive muscle around the mouth reduces the thin radiating lines around the mouth, so called smoker's lines/lipstick bleeding lines and gives more volume to the lips by plumping lips(fig 1)

Botox is also used to contour the face, it slims the bulky muscles to define and contour the jawline. It corrects gummy smiles, dimply orange peel-like skin on the chin, lines and bands in the neck and décolleté.

Botox is also used for eyebrow lift, lip flip and skin rejuvenation of the face, neck & décolleté. It effectively reduces local excessive sweating, so often used in armpits, hands, face, neck and scalp to reduce excessive sweating.

It is also used for rejuvenation of skin in Micro Botox for the face, neck & décolleté. The Micro Botox rejuvenates the skin. It improves the skin complexion, texture and laxity, firms up the skin, reduces the pore size, fine lines and skin redness, gives a younger looking glow to the skin.

The treatment, involves the injection with a very fine needle. Local anesthesia is usually not required.

Usually no or minimal side effects after the treatment and you can return to your work and social life immediately.

The effect of the treatment begins to appear within a few days (3-4) and improves for 10-14 days and usually lasts up to 3-6months for dynamic wrinkles. For sweating and muscle reduction, the effect lasts longer, often 6-8 months and in some cases longer.

Avoid (non-prescribed) aspirin, ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory drugs for 48-72 hours before to decease the risk of getting bruises after treatment. However, paracetamol (Panadol) does not have the risk, is safe to take if required instead.

Do not stop taking your usual medications without consulting your primary care physician.

To undergo any of our treatments, the person must be over 18 years of age and not pregnant or breastfeeding.

Aftercare:

• Do not lie down for four hours after the procedure. Do not bend forward. No swimming, yoga or pilates for 24 hours after the treatment.

• Do not rub or massage the treated area for 48 hours after the treatment.

• Sleep on your back so that your face faces upward and avoids pressure for 2 days for best results.

• Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours after the treatment.

• No facials for the first 48 hours

• Bruises are not common. If small bruises appear one can use Thrombophob Ointment (available at all pharmacies) over bruises without adversely affecting the results.
